Festive make-up look essentials

Tis the season to get…. really well primped for your festive gatherings. Here’s my four essentials to a perfect make-up look.

SOMETHING SETTING TO MAKE IT AN ALL-NIGHTER

Essential in any make-up look, but most definitely when you want your masterwork to last all night: a good powder. I like to start off with something mattifying to even out the shiny parts of my face. But my true love when it comes to powder is the Ellis Faas Glow Up. It might sound like a highlighter, but actually it’s more of a dewy finish kind of setting powder. I love to use this under my eyes to brighten up and seal in my concealer, and on my nose and forehead to get rid of that awkward matte effect foundation tends to give me.

SOMETHING GLOWY TO MAKE YOU A SHINING STAR

Tis the season to go very overboard with your highlighter. I tend to want to do this on an everyday basis, but actually a festive night look is the perfect occasion to really make work of your illumination game. I’ve recently discovered the beauty that the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick is, so easy to use and the perfect peachy shade for me. I finish it up with some powder highlighter on top, because I just want to match the glitter tree decorations…

SOMETHING RED TO KEEP UP THE FESTIVE SPIRIT

I HAVE to wear red lipstick on every festive occasion. I used to be a red-lipper for my daily looks as well, but lately I’ve become a lot more natural in my everyday make-up and I keep the red and dangerous for the more special nights. My all-time favourite red is from the Diorific Matte collection, but there’s plenty of good red lipsticks to find at MAC, L’OrĂ©al Paris and Clinique as well!

SOMETHING BLUSHY TO GIVE IT AN EXTRA TOUCH

I always think my blush is invisible until I go a day without it. With my chubby, round cheeks, giving a little depth to my face is very important. And a good blush is essential for that. Currently I’m keeping my NARS Orgasm blush for special occasions, and although it’s quite a Summerish brighty, the holiday season for me is also quite the moment to get this one out of the drawer. A budgetfriendly alternative is the Maybelline Face Studio Master blushes, pigmented and a little bit glowy as well!
