How to be a morning person

Especially on Mondays, it can be really hard to get out of bed and start your day. For me, mornings have always been my favourite part of the day. I love how satisfying it feels to get a lot done before noon and just to get out of bed with a smile and a plan. But, as I've noticed a lot, this is not very evident and asks for the right attitude and some handy tips to help you become a real morning person. I've listed my favourites for you down below!

HAVE AN EARLY NIGHT

Nothing ruins your morning more than to still be tired when you wake up. Allow yourself to stop working, watching TV or doing whatever activity in the evening and get to bed early enough. 9.30 or 10 PM usually works best for me. I take a bath and read through some articles or a book before closing my eyes to get me into a calm, peaceful vibe and help me be able to sleep early.

SET THE ALARM

This one goes hand-in-hand with the previous tip: set your alarm, preferably a bit earlier. It can be so satisfying to wake up early, feel fresh because you had an early night and be super motivated to tick a lot of stuff from your to-do list before lunch. For me, those days are the best, and that's why I try to get up quite early every day instead of snoozing in bed.

PREPARATION IS KEY

Take ten to fifteen minutes in the evening to prepare everything for the morning. Set the table ready for your breakfast, decide on your outfit for the next day, maybe make sure your coffee measurements are done so you only have to push a button. For schooldays, I especially like to make sure that my school bag is all ready and I just have to grab it to go. And outfit planning also comes in really handy if you like to look really good but you have a hard time deciding what to wear that day - saves you a lot of time and stress in the morning and takes up but a little bit of your evening!

HAVE A SET ROUTINE BEFORE THE BUZZ

I know that it's tempting to check your emails and social media first thing in the morning. But actually, you can wake up much more peacefully and really get into the good morning vibe if you have your morning routine - preparing breakfast, eating it, taking a shower, doing your make-up, ... - BEFORE you check your phone. That way you have nothing to worry about before you actually start your day and your routine is smooth and calm. Also, having a set routine is proven to help you wake up better and get you through the day! So decide on what you like to do in the morning and try to keep up the habit.

What's your best way to kick Monday's ass?
