It’s not often that I review a product just a few weeks after the first test. Normally, I like to see how my skin gets on with it in the long run and through different stages of the month. But to be honest: I’ve been using this Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator literally every day since it arrived in my mailbox. Not only did I fall in love at first application, I also dare to say that I’ve used it enough to have a clear opinion on it. Spoiler: it’s raving!

What it is

The Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator functions as an illuminating moisturizer and/or a pre-makeup primer. Its pearlescent finish and ultra-hydrating formula gives your skin that nice, effortless glow without being shimmery or greasy. It’s being released in stores this month.

Ingredients (as found here):

Aqua/Water, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Octyldodecanol, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Glyceryl Stearate, Propanediol, Salix Alba Bark, Extract/Willow Bark Extract, Mica, Arachidyl Alcohol, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Behenyl Alcohol, Parfum/Fragrance**, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Arachidyl Glucoside, Limonene, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, CI 77491/Iron Oxides, Potassium Sorbate, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract, Glycine Soja Oil/Soybean Oil, Phytic Acid, Citral, Sodium Benzoate, Linalool, Punica, Granatum Fruit Extract, Malpighia Punicifolia Fruit Extract/Acerola Fruit Extract.

Who it’s for

Anyone who feels like their skin looks a bit dull and could use a boost. From the most delicate skins to oily and blemish-prone ones, this one works its magic on every canvas.

When I use it

I’m a big fan of using this one in the morning. As a moisturizer, the Glow Formula Skin Hydrator makes my skin really nicely hydrated for the rest of the day. It also gives my skin that boost it needs when I didn’t have my eight hours of sleep, providing a fresh and healthy face in just seconds. However, you could definitely use it as a primer to boost and hydrate your skin before applying makeup, or even mix it in with your foundation to provide it with a natural, glowy finish.

Why I like it

  • The formula of the Glow Formula Skin Hydrator is really soft and hydrating without being greasy
  • The rosy, pearlescent finish gives the skin a healthy and fresh look
  • It’s the perfect base for makeup
  • It’s just a really simple, easy product without too many harsh ingredients and not much to watch out for – which gives an assurance of versatility and makes it an everlasting staple in my skin care collection

About Kiehl’s

If you’ve been following me for a while you probably know that I love a lot of Kiehl’s products. Their Midnight Recovery Concentrate is on rotation in my routine as good as always and I’m close to trying every single bit in their collection.

The brand today is the heritage of an apothecary founded in 1851. Kiehl’s focus on skin care and good ingredients, which I obviously love. Their range is quite big and there’s something available for any kind of concern. They also sell hair and body/shower products.

They’re part of the L’Oréal group, which makes it improbable that they will switch to cruelty-free anytime soon – pity. However, a huge green plus for me, in my low waste defence, is the fact that you can recycle your empty containers in-store and get rewarded for it with more products to try. Happy bin bag and happy me!

Kiehl’s can be bought in their own stores in several cities, online or in various stores like Skins Cosmetics (NL), Parfuma and Galeria Inno.
